To make your jewelry look it's very best it is important to clean it properly. However, different pieces of jewelry require different cleaning procedures.
Not all emeralds are the same.
Although emeralds themselves can withstand most standard jewelry cleaning actions, the enhancement that was used to improve the emerald's appearance will fail, with a notable exception. Therefore, you are limited to taking your emeralds to a jewelry expert to have them clean them or simply limit your cleaning to a clean and soft cloth wiping.
We do not recommend using a toothbrush and baking soda, toothpaste or any of the popular cleaning approaches used by the public - for emeralds or any other jewelry or gemstones. Small jewelry cleaning kits, consisting of a jar, screen-like plastic ladle and colored liquid cleaning solution (suspiciously smelling like ammonia), are not an acceptable a cleaning solution for emeralds. It is better to limit use of these kits for diamonds, sapphires and rubies and not pearls, mother-of-pearl, amber or emeralds.

Avoid activities which expose gemstones to impact. Even diamonds are vulnerable to impact and for sure all other gemstone are too. Even if a gemstone survives a blow, the setting may be badly damaged that in turn may release the gemstone.
